Vivian Jones - Big leaders (Imperial house CD)
Very strong roots album from this UK singer. Especially tracks New Trade, The Gun (also avaible on 10" vinyl) and Crucial. Vocals laid on crisp and heavy rhytms produced by Wooligan and Spears.
Tena Stelin - Religeous war (Shashamani 7")
Heavy heavy tune. Took a great while to get into it but once I did...
Lutan Fiyah - Let righteousness be your guide (Jah Warrior 7")
Great vocal on heavy rhythm by Jah Warrior.
Ras MacBean - Know HIM (Zion Gate 7")
Conscious lyrics and good delivery from this relatively unknown(at least to me) singer. Crisp one drop production from Zion Gate, France.
Tony Rebel - Poison and medicine (Special delivery 7")
EXCELLENT original rhytm. Several cuts, favourites include Turbulence, Chuckie Star and Pierpoljak.

Al Campbell - Fight I down (Greensleeves 12")
Al Cambpell is one of my favourite singers and he does a great job on this wicked rhythm. Heavy!!
Brushy 'One String' - Fire in their souls (Vibes house 10")
Excellent vocal on heavy rhythm produced by Dezzi D. Soundsystem powerplay!! Features on a 10" together with two Dezzy D vocals.
Jah Mason - No joke (Jah Warrior 7")
This tune aint no joke for sure. Jah Mason mix his vocal delivery in toasting and Jah Cure-styled singing.
Nereus Joseph - Never give up (Zion Gate")
Good tune by Nereus on the excellent 'Prions Jah' rhythm. Crisp one drop production from Zion Gate, France. Also cuts by Ras McBean and Nassadjah.
Dezzi D - Stop the gun shooting (Vibes house 7")
Nice roots tune produced and sung by Dezzi D.

Leroy Mafia - Praises (Black arrow 7")
Crisp modern roots production. Sounds like a UK production to me. Theres also cuts by Al Campbell and Vivian Jones but this is the most crucial one. Be sure you dont miss it!!

Nice vocal on heavy 70´s styled stepper.
Half Pint - Cant control me (Mr. Luxury music 7")
Ever firm Half Pint singin a crucial song on this heavy One drop.
Hallelujah to the king - Dezzi D (King Shiloh 12")
This has been on the shelf for a while now and I picked it out again. Pure quality. Produced by Iyah One.
Prince Allah - Put them to shame (Jah-mek 7")
Nice roots tune produced and sung by Prince Allah.

Gregory Fabulous - Get up (Jah Tubbys 10")
Get up, get up, get up, get up yeah-aah, com mek we dance to the rastaman tempo.... These lyrics get stuck in your head and when you hear them you will feel like jumping. Heavy steppers rhythm and superb vocal.
Errol Bellot - New life (Jah Tubbys 10")
Beautiful vocal on a crisp stepper(not the same as above). Nice nice b-line. Both rhythm and vocal are very melodic. These two 10"´s are the best to have surfaced from JTS in quite a while.
Jackie Mitoo - Hang em high (Coxsone LP track)
Jackie utilizes the theme from the western movie on a funky b-line to full effect. The track is features on the Keep on dancing set. Maybe not for the roots orthodox, but more if you like studio one instrumentals.
Glen Washington - Clean living (Cyclone 7")
Roots one drop tune on original rhythm. Well heavy.
Various - Lion Roots (Lion Inc. LP)
Had this LP for years and I keep coming back to it. Quality roots for sure. From the Brixton based Lion/Amharic crew. Vocals by Michael Prophet, Earl 16, I Jay and more.

Luciano - Stay away (Germaican 7")
Superb vocal from Luciano on this quality remake of the Night nurse rhythm. Produced in Germany.
Michael Rose - Jah love (Germaican 7")
Strong performance from Michael Rose on this one. Same rhythm as above.
Tyrone Taylor - Sufferation (Observer 7")
Slow reality tune from the 70´s. Came on repress a while ago.
Gentleman - Journey to Jah (Four music CD)
Normally I dont go for albums when it comes to modern roots ja-style but this one is a real treat. Out of the fifteen tracks there is two or three weak tunes. The rest is KILLER! Most tracks produced, recorded and mixed in JA (DigitalB/Pot of gold/Tuff gong/Black Scorpio). Some of the rhythm laid by Firehouse crew.
Sip-a-cup family - Theme from Lalabella (Sip-a-cup 10")
Nice remake of this sound system killer instrumental. Produced by Gussie P. B/W Winston McAnuff remake of Studio1 killer 'Youll get your pay'.

Leroy Mafia - Peace man time/Hungry (Sip a cup 10")
2 quality tunes from Gussie P. 'Hungry' is more mellow and melodic while 'Peace man time' is a dancey stepper.
Glen Washington - Got to be free (Jasfar 7")
Beatiful tune. Previous piece on this rhythm is Marcia Griffiths 'Better days' on the Joe Frazier label.
Luciano - Rod of iron (Blacker dread 7")
Great tune! Rhytm by Firehouse crew.
Lutan Fyah - 16 years (Conscious Sounds 10")
Cant stop playing this BOOM tune. Its up there among my alltime favourite DJ tunes.
Banana Man - Heads of babylon (Solardub 7")
Dont be mislead by the strange name. This is a serious tune by a singer I definately want to hear more from.

Massive massive tune!! Jah Mason in a singing mode rather than toasting. Give me more of this..
Turbulence - Facts (Minor7Flat5 7")
This fast stepper gets your feet moving. Produced in Gran Canaria(!), first tune I have ever heard from these parts, and its very impressive. Turbulence toasting in fine form.
Winston McAnuff - Diary of the silent years 1977-2000 (Maka Sound dbl.LP)
Nice set of tunes by this very special singer. Especially the opening track, 'Fear'.
Lutan Fyah - 16 years (Conscious Sounds 10")
Up and coming bobo singjay. Only heard his massive tune Fling stone on the safire label previously and this is even better.
Delroy Williams - Darkness with fire (Rockers LP)
Augustus Pablo production from the 80´s. Some of the tunes are too lightweight, but the roots pieces of this LP are heavy like lead. 4 good tracks out of 9...

Tenna Star - Mama (Mellow Vibes 7")
Never heard this singer before, and I will tell you I was amazed. Beautiful piece of roots. Reality lyrics although the title might suggest other. Do not miss this one!!
Murry Man - Get Up & Stand Up (Mellow Vibes 7")
Crisp steppers tune with ever reliable Murry Man. Hard roots vocal. This one is not a cover of the Marley song.
Collie Weed - Good Loving (Mellow Vibes 7")
Love lyrics sung in a heavy style. Same steppers rhythm as the murryman piece.
Murry Man - Run away (Cultural Warriors 7")
New 7"´s from the Cultural Warriors production house in Switzerland. Heavy roots.
Afrikan Simba - Jah no dead (Cultural Warriors 7")
